Bringing Your Best to Applications, Interviews and Jobs (Workshop Structured for Young Adults)

These are small group Labs allowing for individual, hands-on help.

Building a portfolio of interests, skills and experience that can be leveraged is essential to developing a pathway to fulfilling work. In this workshop, you will identify your portfolio and create a personal story line. Then, you will learn how to use that story line to create compelling applications, excel in different interview scenarios and position yourself in your job. At the end of the workshops, you will have the opportunity to meet one-on-one to discuss your goals and review your story line.

We add Labs and Workshops every month so let us know, through the “Join Now” button at the bottom of this page, if there are better times. When we have enough interest in a new time, we will add it and reach out directly to you.

Building Your Personal Story - Lab for the Female Voice

Want to think about dissecting those things in life that get you up in the morning, energize you the entire day and keep you engrossed deep into the night? We all have moments of pure bliss where we lose track of time and emerge feeling awesome about ourselves and our work. This euphoria is very much what passionate entrepreneurs feel when their businesses are successful and growing and we each have the same capacity for that kind of joy.

Achieving success is not based on passion alone. The process is just as important as the product and those entrepreneurs that execute on the process come away with clear steps on how to leverage who they are and what they have created to build personal and company value.

We have adapted our virtual entrepreneurial thinking Lab to help you identify, develop and articulate your personal story. This workshop is one-part self-reflection and one-part narrative development. At the end of our four weeks together, you will have identified the key elements of your story and will have a roadmap for leveraging that value personally, professionally and/or entrepreneurially.

The Entrepreneurial Approach - Lab for Gap Year

One-on-one coaching also available - contact AVL for details

These are small group Labs allowing for individual, hands-on help.

This 4-week Lab uses design thinking to help you form a compelling argument about the value of your idea and its business model. By the end of the Lab, you will understand the steps needed to develop an idea into a business and will have a “go” or “no-go” decision about moving forward.

  • Come to the Lab with a business idea or an academic discovery to explore.

  • We take you through a series of entrepreneurial-thinking and audience discovery exercises for 2 weeks to help you hone in on a buying market and meeting a need.

  • As you begin to coalesce around a value proposition (originating from your audience discovery), we transition the workshops to business thinking and argument building exercises.

  • Finally, you develop a pitch document articulating the problem you are solving, why it matters, your solution, why your target audience will adopt your idea and whether you have a sufficient audience to make your business/organization viable.

  • In our last group session, you present to a panel of entrepreneurs and early-stage funders.

  • After you pitch, you meet with an advisor one-on-one to discuss pitch feedback and tighten your value-proposition.

  • During your time with us, you will be invited to our Entrepreneur’s Clubhouse events and upon completion of the Lab, you will receive a certificate of completion and are eligible to join our ongoing topic-specific workshops.

  • You are also invited to post your ideas and pitch documents on our website. You can include the URL in your resume, LinkedIn and other outward-facing mechanisms that highlight your work. Our network of subject-matter leaders, entrepreneurs and venture capitalists are invited to look through the ideas/solutions which is a great way to get noticed in fields in which you are interested. Posting is voluntary.

Do you have a good idea to meet a need? Do you want to change the world? Do you want agency over developing your ideas in a safe and encouraging environment. Join one of our virtual cohorts and put your ideas into action.

This 4-week Lab uses design thinking to help you build a compelling argument about the value of your idea and its business model. By the end of the Lab, you will understand the steps needed to develop an idea into a business and will have a “go” or “no-go” decision about moving forward.

  • We start with a 3-hour “Hackathon” where you come up with an idea for a product/service to test. You can work in teams or individually.

  • We then take you through a series of entrepreneurial-thinking and audience discovery exercises for 2 weeks to help you hone in on a buying market and meeting a need.
